Pocket Watch Chain Vesta Stamp Case Fob Victorian Large 1890s Book Fob

Original Victorian Gentleman's very large and chunky bright silver nickel pocket watch chain Antique vesta & stamp case fob (by C E B & Co) in the form of a book. C~1890's. Similar to the fobs I have supplied to Pinewood Studios. (Please excuse all the reflections/dark shadows in the pictures - was very difficult to photograph). Measures; 5.9cm height (including the top ring), 3.5cm width, 1.3cm depth and weighs a heavy 36.3 grams. Wonderful and highly detailed 'book' form engine turned vesta / stamp case with very, very strong (mouse trap action) spring loaded cover to front and back (both operate correctly). The front compartment is made to hold matches and is lined with rich Bishop's garnet baize (can easily be removed if desired). Back compartment has two square recesses to hold stamps - an original Indian 'Gandhiji' stamp is still contained within. Stamped to base with a registration number; Rd".387671 and carries the makers initials; C E B & Co. Ribbed striker to side and robust steel top ring to attach to a Gentleman's pocket watch chain. Excellent clean and bright condition with just a little bit of overall wear / patina and light surface scratches commensurate with age.
