The watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement, a Revue calibre 30, which is working nicely. The movement is signed Kay & Co Ltd.
William Kay set up Kays of Worcester in 1890. Customers bought items from handbills in a folder and initially the goods on offer were limited to jewellery, watches, clocks and household items. Eventually William’s son Jack took over the running of the business. The company continued to expand and trade successfully, becoming one of Worcester’s largest employers.
The watch measures 54mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is chromium plated nickel. The case is in good condition, just general light marks. Both the bezel and the case back are a screw fitting, a good sign of quality.
The watch has a thick glass lens which has small marks across it.
The signed dial is in beautiful condition with original blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
All prices include UK postage (excluding Northern Ireland).
