Powder & Rouge Compact Vanity Case Richard Hudnut Bakelite Skyscraper Unused Art Deco Circa 1930 Rare
On offer is this rare unused 1930s vanity case known as the Skyscraper by Richard Hudnut. The case measures 6 cm square and is made of white bakelite and nickel plated metal. The lid has skyscraper shape which is repeated on the base and is further decorated with attractive machine turned pattern. The lid and base have matching design and the base is marked Richard Hudnut Made in USA. Both sides of the compact are shown in the images.
The case has lift up catch and under the lid is a polished metal mirror. In the base are two compartments. The larger at the top is an open powder well with full contents of pressed powder and unused puff. Beneath this is a nickel plated hinged door marked Richard Hudnut. This door accesses the rouge well which contains the original rouge makeup contents as well as a Richard Hudnut marked puff.
This rare Art Deco powder compact is offered in very good unused condition. The bakelite body has no chips or cracks. The nickel plated metal is bright and shiny and free of tarnish and the interior is clean. There is a little bit of cracking to the rouge makeup but it is unused.
