Queen Anne Britannia Antique Silver Spoon

Wonderful Queen Anne Britannia Standard Dog Nose solid silver spoon. It carries the hallmarks for London 1709 with the maker's mark of Thomas Spackman. The spoon has a 'dog nose', typical of the fashion of the time, and a rat tail at the base of the handle. There is no crest. The Britannia Standard was introduced in 1696 and signifies a purer standard of silver than sterling - 95.8% compared to the 92.5% of sterling. Complimentary gift wrapping is available on request.
