A beautiful example of these rare and sought after classic clocks with such a close affinity to the history of our Country.
The plain and unadorned oak case is indicative of the pure practical purpose for which such clocks were made. It retains it's original finish and has simply been cleaned and waxed in order to retain it's original provenance. It has a side opening door and full door to the rear. It stands on 4 bun feet.
The 8" (20cm) convex silvered dial has black, engraved Roman numerals and the RAF logo to the top centre. It is in lovely clean and well maintained condition.
It is surmounted by a spring loaded, cast brass bezel with a convex glass.
The 8 day, chain driven fusee movement has just been fully overhauled by our BHI registered horologist (9th generation) and carries our usual 12mths full parts and labour guarantee.
Made by the World famous F. ELLIOT & Co of LONDON it is clearly identified on the back plate of the movement:
SERIAL No. 10058. 1939.
Elliots are renowned for making clocks for Municipals, Police, Military, Etc.
A wonderful and rare clock.
