Rare Art Deco Dhaussy Powder Compact c.1930

On offer is this attractive Dhaussy powder compact which measures 5.3 cm in diameter. The compact is made of white metal with attractive machine turned pattern to the base and is marked in the central cartouche Dhaussy Made in England Pat.No. 216437 and is further marked with the instructions "Remove this base to refill" This patented powder compact was manufactured by the Dhaussy Powder Box Co. in 1929 who designed the powder well to be "unspillable". The final image in this listing shows a Dhaussy advert in the 1929 British Industries Fair catalogue. The compact lid has attractive art deco geometric checker board pattern in white metal on red enamel ground. Hinges and catch are firm and secure and there is a polished metal mirror under the lid which is clear and reflective. The powder well in the base has gilt metal dispensing cover and the compact retains the original unused puff. This art deco Dhaussy powder compact is offered in very good condition with no dents or dings to the case, no wear to the enamel lid and no tarnish to the metal.
