Rare George IV Birdseye Maple & Rosewood Tea Table

Quality rare and unusual George IV Birdseye maple and rosewood fold over tea table, the D shaped top in fine Birdseye maple with broad rosewood cross-banding, the hinged top opens to reveal polished interior similar to the outside with wonderful colour, the top swivels to reveal a small storage space beneath, with a simple fore-edge and a profusely carved frieze of foliate carving in oak  panel with scrolling designs each side, resting on a tapering faceted stem with scrolling uprights,  with pierced buttresses, on a cruciform platform base with shaped Birdseye maple and rosewood sections between each of the legs, resting on four animal feet with scrolling to the underside. Recently repolished traditionally.
