Rare Hukin Heath / Christopher Dresser 1893 Victorian Solid Sterling Silver Glass Antique Pepper Mill / Shaker / Grinder Arts & Crafts Aesthetic

This is a rare antique late 19th-century (1893) sterling silver and cut glass pepper mill from the Victorian Aesthetic Movement. Made by Hukin & Heath, with the design attributed to Christopher Dresser. The sterling silver is hand-crafted with a distinctive bark-effect texture, which is echoed in the globular cut-glass body. The thick-walled, multi-faceted glass shimmers beautifully, complementing the silver lid and base. All silver components are individually hallmarked, with matching marks throughout. The grinding mechanism, by Peugeot Frères Brevetés SGDG, is original to the pepper mill and fully working. Free from personal inscriptions or monograms. A striking and rare example of a Victorian silver pepper mill, especially notable for its unusual bark-effect finish.
