Rare Late Regency Jewellery Box

An unusual and rare late Regency / William Iv flame mahogany jewellery box with egg and dart carved decoration to the edges, the top and front with decorative brass line inlays, the lid with a decorative vacant brass cartouche and the front with brass key escutcheon. The box opens to reveal a fitted interior lined in a vibrant blue velvet, the lift out tray fitted with various compartments (sone with original leather covers) revealing further storage beneath. One section contains a fine original mahogany box with sliding lid. To the front of the box a brass retaining pin lifts to unlock the front drawer which is similarly lined in blue velvet. With fully working lock and tassled key. A rare and unusual box.
