Description
A good quality mahogany carver chair dating from the early 19th century. It is a typically stylish regency design - a gently curving back with rope twist top, sabre legs and reeded lined detail. This continuous curving line formed by the sides of the back, the seat rail and the chair legs are essential features of a 'Trafalgar' chair. This design was popular around 1811 with naval references, such as the rope-twist back rail, having been popular in the time of Lord Nelson. It has a drop-in seat pad which has been recently upholstered in a beautiful red leather.
The chair stands approximately 33" (84cm) high and is 21" (53cm) wide arm to arm. The seat is 19" (48cm) deep and 18 1/2" (47cm) high.
The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions just ask.
