Rene Lalique "Poissons" Pattern Opalescent Glass Bowl with Rare Vda Mark to Centre c.1921

This is a stunning early Rene Lalique “Poissons" Fish pattern bowl modelled in Opalescent glass, model number 3211 dating to circa 1921. Marked with a very rare, Vda mark to the centre and further inscribed R Lalique to the rim. A rare example of the early piece by Rene Lalique bearing the very early Vda mark to the centre. 1921 was the year that Lalique opened his Verrerie d'Alsace and this piece would have been one of the earliest pieces of glass produced at the works. It is rare to find the Vda (Verrerie d'Alsace) mark as this was only briefly used. The glassworks based in Wingen-Sur-Moder became one of the most significant glassworks in the history of glass and possibly the most significant of the 20th century. It is from this glassworks that the majority of Lalique's incredible contributions to glassware were produced.
