Sideboard by Gordon Russell in Rosewood & Mahogany 1960s

A rare and extremely beautiful vintage sideboard by Gordon Russell in rosewood and mahogany. This was made in England and dates from the 1960s. Makers metal label to the rear. The quality is outstanding which you would expect from Russell. It's of a great long slender size with lots of useful storage space and top for lamps and such. The rosewood doors are beautifully curved at all corners with the solid brass hinges allowing them to open 180 degrees and sit flush when completely opened. The matched rosewood grain patterns on the door fronts are absolutely stunning without being too brash like some. The top, sides and circular legs are mahogany of a superior grain, which contrasts beautifully with the rosewood. Condition is good. The rosewood doors are very good, the top has one or two marks but again very good, all doors are opening and closing as they should and we have shelves to the inside, one to one of the larger double opening cupboards and a half shelf to the smaller right hand side cupboard. There is also a useful drawer within the other double opening cupboard. We have an old repair mark to the inside of one of the doors but again only on show when you open that door. This was a one owner piece so has been well cared for. The sideboard is ready for placing. A stunning quality piece rarely seen from Gordon Russell.
