Description
Gypsy Festival of St. Eulalia, Andalusia; Limited Edition Print. This is unusual because the original was painted in oils in 1937. It was published by Magnus i a quantity of 850. It has no publishers blind stamp or number. It is featured on page 14 of Northwood Fine Arts cataloque. Also interestingly it is named Festival of St Eulalia on the back with no reference to Gypsy, I have also seen it described as Gypsy Festival St. Andalusia with no mention of Eulalia! Sir William Russell Flint (1890 – 1969) was the pre eminent water colourist of his time. He was President of the Royal Society of Painters in Water Colours and a Trustee of The Royal Academy of Art. He was a prolific artist producing hundreds of paintings. Of these about 100 were released as Limited Edition Prints during his lifetime and a further 100, which he had approved and agreed could be printed, after his death. Those issued during his lifetime he signed and are catalogued in the definitive book A Catalogue Raisonne. Those issued after his death often bear the blind stamp of the publisher and are all contained in Northwood Fine Art’s catalogue of the full collection. If any print is not as described in either publication it is not a genuine Swrf Limited Edition print.
