Description
This is a small antique seamstress' button box. A Japanese, brass decorative tin, dating to the 19th Century period, circa 1850.
Delicately crafted box with wonderful colour and detail that displays a desirable aged patina throughout with minimal tarnishing. Fine brasswork displays warm golden tones with silvered beading to lid edge. Decorated with relief cast foliate and bird motif to great effect. Interior lightly time-worn with remnants of original silvered finish.
This is a charming antique seamstress' button box, with an appealing Japanese decorative finish from the late Edo period (1603 - 1868) whilst under the Tokugawa shogunate. Delivered polished and ready to enjoy.
