Solid mahogany stick barometer having an arch top with bevel edge glass enclosing inward slanting bone register plates signed by J Hicks of London.With a mercury thermometer mounted on a ceramic scale plate within a glazed box and terminating in a turned cistern cover.
James Joseph Hicks was born in Co Cork ,he was a staunch catholic and presented meteorological instruments to the Vatican ,he was made a Knight Commander of St Gregory.
