Superb 12” English Fusee Dial Timepiece by James Richmond of York 1854

A superb fusee wall clock with 12” dial, by maker James Richmond, of 35 Layerthorpe, York. Born in York, 1806, Richmond was a master clockmaker his whole professional life, starting off in York between c1825 and 1859 and then relocating to Ropery Street in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, from where he primarily produced pocket watches and remained until his passing in c1885. • Turned Mahogany roundhead face and boxed cabinet with nice, aged patination. • Hinged inspection door located to the side of the box. • Operable lockable regulator door to the bottom of the box. • The clock retains its original metal dial and artwork, with black Roman numerals and Richmond’s details. • Original pair of blued spade hands, secured with a pinned collet. • Thick bevelled glaze mounted in a brass bezel. • High-quality 8-day single fusee driven movement set between rectangular plates and turned pillars. • Comes with its original 76mm diameter brass pendulum bob, with door key and a brass winding key.
