Description
A superb Victorian period fusee wall clock with 12” dial, by maker Robert Wilson of 20 Church Street, Nuneaton, Warwickshire.
Born in Nuneaton in 1841, Wilson served his apprenticeship under his father John Wilson a master clock and watchmaker at Church Street, Nuneaton, remaining with his father until his death around 1859, at which point Robert took over the sole running of the Church Street business, where he stayed for the rest of his life producing fine pocket watches and clocks.
• Turned Mahogany roundhead face and boxed cabinet has good, aged patination.
• Hinged inspection door located to the side of the box.
• Operable lockable regulator door located at the bottom of the box.
• Metal dial has black Roman numerals with Wilson’s details.
• Original pair of blued spade hands, secured with a pinned collet.
• Dial protected by glaze mounted in its original brass bezel, incorporating a canted silvered brass fillet to the interior.
• Quality 8-day single fusee movement set between rectangular plates and turned pillars.
• Comes with its original 70mm diameter pendulum bob, door and a brass winding keys.
