Superb 17th Century Dutch Marquetry Cabinet on Stand Baroque Period with Pewter Inlay

This is a rare and exceptional 17th-century Dutch Baroque marquetry cabinet on stand, dating to circa 1660–1670, and boasting a truly outstanding patina. The cabinet features a pair of raised ripple-moulded panelled doors which open to reveal a finely appointed interior with a full-width shelf and two compartments, divided by three elegant engaged ring-turned columns. Beneath sits a long drawer adorned with three boldly carved lion-mask mounts, all raised upon four attractive cup-and-cover legs terminating in substantial bun feet. The exterior is profusely decorated with exquisite period floral marquetry, complemented by exceptionally rare pewter inlay. The central doors are embellished with a pair of finely executed classical nymph figures surrounded by scrolling floral motifs. At the same time, the cabinet as a whole incorporates no fewer than eleven beautifully inlaid classical figures—a remarkable decorative feature seldom encountered.
