This is an early 19th-century (1839) English Sheffield Victorian sterling silver & mother of pearl antique penknife. Beautiful carved genuine mother-of-pearl scales. The blade still has a good thickness of silver to it. The hinge is firm and the blade snaps nicely when being closed. A relatively large penknife. Fully hallmarked. Hallmarks: Sheffield, Silver fineness 925. Maker Atkin & Oxley Dimension: length closed 7.9cm (3"), open 14.3cm (5 5/8"). Approx.
