This is a beautiful late 19th-century (1893) sterling silver and glass Victorian antique pepper mill.
Made by Hukin & Heath - renowned for their Aesthetic design, as well as silversmiths for Christopher Dresser.
The globular glass container is an original antique and has thick walls.
The silver lid and base are stamped with large feature hallmarks. All parts of the silver are individually hallmarked. All with matching marks.
The grinding mechanism is original to the pepper mill, by Peugeot Freres Brevetes SGDG. Fully working.
Free from personal inscriptions or monograms.
HALLMARKS: Birmingham, SILVER fineness 925, MAKER Hukin & Heath (John Thomas Heath & John Hartshorne Middleton)
