Description
Circa 1880/1890, most likely french, in the style of Emmanuel Frémiet (1824-1910). This strongly detailed bronze mouse, hinges at the neck to reveal storage compartment for matches. The mouse is holding a 'block of cheese' with a small hole to hold a match, possibly lit for "Go-to-bed". Displaying original glass eyes, stood on a grass bank that is attached to the mouse by a screw from underneath.
