Victorian Burr Walnut Davenport

A good quality Victorian davenport made of the finest Burr Walnut, dating from the mid to late 19th Century. It has a sloped front with a tooled leather writing surface, four drawers to one side and four dummy drawers to the other. The interior is fitted with two dummy drawers and a real drawer in the middle. The small top section is also fitted with a pen tray, inkwell and various other sections. The davenport has two carved supports and rests on its original turned feet with castors below. The quality and condition are excellent and the walnut has developed a wonderful rich colour. The piece has been thoroughly cleaned and gently polished, retaining the original patina. The drawers open smoothly and the interior is generally clean and tidy. There are no major damages to the exterior. There are some signs of age, minor marks and small knocks and chips but nothing detrimental and overall it is a lovely sturdy piece of furniture. Please note there are no keys with the davenport. There are some minor old signs of worm in the feet which has all been treated as a precaution and hasn't affected the piece structurally or aesthetically.
