A large and fine quality rectangular mirror mostly likely part of an extensive Chippendale dining suite from the late Victorian period and would have been placed above the serving buffet sideboard or maybe the fireplace. In the day, this would have been part of a special commission and made to order by a top cabinet making firm. The mirror is bevelled and the mahogany frame is set with a gadrooned border with a bead of egg and dart. The crested top is set above a tablet of foliate swirls, a central urn and mythical creatures to either side. This is a heavy mirror befitting its craftsmanship and has survived in superb condition.
