Victorian Inlaid Burr Walnut Box Ideal For Documents / Collections - Lock & Key

This is a lovely antique Victorian box which is made from walnut with a burr walnut panel set into the lid which gives it a really nice appearance. It also has an inlaid brass cartouche to the centre of the lid and a matching escutcheon. the cartouche is unused so could be engraved to personalise the box should you wish. It comes with a good working lock and key which functions well and locks and unlocks the box easily. The lid is a good fit with stop hinges that are safe and secure and opens up to a beautiful interior that has been relined with a good quality material. This is a very good quality box with biscuit joints on all corners which displays really well. it is ideal for the storage of documents, to house a collection, for pistol storage/ display or jewellery but quite a multi functional box to use for whatever suits your own purpose which is a very useful size with plenty of interior space but will fit neatly into a cupboard for easy storage. please note that there is a covering on the base to prevent the box from scratching any surfaces although in the photographs it may look like just plain wood. It is in a very good condition for its age with fair wear and tear plus commensurate markings and the wood having a fantastic grain, colour and finish which gives it great character. though please also study the photographs for condition as they help to form part of the description.
