Fabulous 1950s Cultured Pearl Necklace with Diamond 9ct Gold Clasp A fabulous vintage cultured pearl necklace dating from the 1950s, featuring a beautiful single strand of generously sized pearls and an exceptionally attractive diamond-set 9 carat yellow gold clasp. The cultured pearls measure approximately 8.8 mm, giving the necklace a wonderfully substantial appearance when worn. They have a lovely creamy silver colour with subtle rose overtones and an excellent lustre, catching the light beautifully. Each pearl is individually hand knotted in the traditional manner. The real focal point is the striking barrel-shaped clasp, crafted in 9 carat yellow gold and set with four rows of brilliant cut diamonds. Fourteen diamonds, totalling approximately 0.20 carat, add a discreet but noticeable sparkle. The contrasting yellow gold detailing gives the clasp a distinctive mid-century appearance. Rather than hiding the clasp at the back, this necklace looks especially elegant with it positioned to the side or even towards the front, turning the fastening into a decorative feature in its own right.
