Vintage Agme Enamel & Mother of Pearl Musical Powder Compact c.1950

Offered for sale is this vintage Agme powder compact using the mechanical movement by Reuge St. Croix and dating circa 1950. The compact measures and measuring 8 cm by 6 cm and is made of glossy polished gold tone metal with machine turned linear pattern to the base. The lid is edged in gold tone beautifully contrasting with the black enamel ground with gilt engraved musical score with treble clef notes and a floral spray which has mother of pearl inlay for the blooms. The case has firm hinge and secure catch and opens to reveal a shiny and clean brushed and polished gold tone metal interior with perfectly clear and reflective framed glass mirror with bevelled edges under the lid. The frame around the mirror is marked Agme Made in Switzerland. The powder well in the base is covered by a hinged door and is engraved with a treble clef and musical score. This door opens and closes securely and opens to access the powder well beneath that is full of loose powder and retains the original sifter. Next to the powder well is the musical movement which is in good working order.
