Vintage Carved Mother of Pearl Peacock Powder Compact Circa 1950

Vintage circa 1950 powder compact with elaborately carved mother of pearl peacock design in high relief and accented with two faux pearls. The case has firm hinge and secure catch and opens to reveal a bevelled glass framed mirror under the lid. The powder well in the base is covered by a polished gold tone metal hinged door and opens to reveal an empty powder well which shows no traces of use and contains the original clean puff and sifter. Offered in good unused condition and comes with its satin slipcase. The case has no dents or dings and the lovely mother of pearl lid is free of damage. The interior is clean and the mirror has some early clouding but retains a good reflection. The gold tone metal is bright and shiny and free of tarnish.
