Description
On offer is this fabulous, whimsical and romantic powder compact made by Elgin American in the mid 1940s. This powder compact measures approx. 9 cm by a maximum of 8.3 cm in width and is the popular heart shaped design. This compact is the top of the range of Elgin's heart shaped compacts and is made of brushed gold tone metal. The base has blue enamel whilst the lid has an elaborate design of two blue love birds hovering over a heart which has the words "Give Me Your Answer Do!". The case has a border of yellow and black flowers with blue enamel scrolling ribbons.
This powder compact has firm hinge and secure catch and opens to reveal a circular framed mirror under the lid. The powder well in the base retains the original Elgin marked puff.
Offered in very good condition. There are no dents or dings to the case and no loss to the enamel design of the lid. The brushed gold tone metal has no tarnish.
