Description
Vintage (or possibly antique) chest of drawers, bank of drawers, workshop or kitchen storage etc, made in the 1940s probably, though could certainly be earlier. Pine carcass with 24 small drawers having hardwood fronts (not sure of the timber there: oak-like but definitely something else) and original metal cup handles. This was a fitted piece so one end is solid, with evident marks where it was connected, while the left side is an open frame. Can be covered but it's rather nice as found. The top has been cut at each end; there's a small diagonal shaping to the left corner. There's no back. Our workshop is closed for a month or two, so we're selling this without further restoration.
Dimensions: 128cm x 46cm x 67cm high (drawer interiors 15.5cm x 36cm x 13cm high at front/10cm at sides)

condition
Condition is not bad structurally: it's surprisingly solid without its back, though it would benefit from having one, or being attached to a wall or other items. Quite a few of the drawers are a bit stiff: they might need sanding, or being in a heated environment might improve matters (the piece isn't damp, as such, but still..). Fair bit of old woodworm in the carcass: we've totally treated that, inside and out, plus whichever drawers needed it. It hadn't become structurally significant, apart from in a few little struts at the back, which we removed as they weren't doing much. Cosmetically, needless to say, there are lots of dings, marks, scratches and scuffs etc; kind of part of the deal with an authentic workpiece, It could do with a good clean up or even stripping, but it depends what you want to achieve. It's currently a very usable, practical and charming item, priced for the condition.
