Vintage Melissa Carved Mother of Pearl Powder Compact

Vintage Melissa powder compact dating circa 1950 and measuring 7.5 cm in diameter. This compact is made of gold tone metal with concentric circular machine turned pattern to the base. The lid has elaborately carved mother of pearl floral and star decoration in high relief. The compact has firm hinge and secure catch and opens to reveal a perfectly clear and reflective framed glass mirror under the lid. The hinged inner powder well door opens to the powder well beneath which contains some remnants of loose powder, the original sifter and Melissa marked puff. This powder compact is offered in excellent condition with no flaws noted.
