Vintage Stratton in Hand Slab Jewelled Powder Compact Circa 1950

Offered for your consideration is this vintage circa 1950 Stratton powder compact which measures 8 cm by 5.5 cm. The compact is made of gold tone metal with an upswept lid. This design was known as the Stratton slab compact. The ridges on the lid are set with sparkling sapphire blue, baguette cut rhinestones. The base of the compact is engraved with the curled feather design. The case has firm hinge and secure catch and opens to reveal a clear and reflective mirror under the lid. The mirror frame is marked with patent numbers and the hinged inner powder well door is marked with the Stratton in Hand logo. This door opens and closes correctly and the powder well beneath is empty of powder and retains the original sifter.
