Watch: Gents 1970s Tissot Seastar Automatic Wrist Watch

The watch has a 21 jewel automatic movement, Tissot calibre 2571, which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the initials CJ. During the mid-20th century, and in a bid to ward off the ever growing popularity of quartz watches, Tissot entered into a corporate partnership called the SSIH (which eventually included brands like Omega and Langendorf/Lanco). As a result of this partnership, Tissot shared movement designs with other Swiss factories. The "CJ" designation, found on both manual and automatic Tissot movements indicates a production variant. The watch measures 35mm wide excluding the later winding crown, and 34mm high excluding the lugs. The case is good condition, just a little surface marking. The inside of the screw-on case back has the Tissot logo. The lens is in good condition (some white natural light reflection showing on the lens). The signed dial is in its original finish. A little marking if viewed through a jeweller’s loupe but it looks good to the naked eye. Original hands. Day / date display… initially set by pushing the crown for the date, and turning the hands forwards for the day. A new leather strap has been fitted. The watch comes in a new presentation box.
