Watch: Gents Bulova Automatic Wrist Watch 1967

The watch has a 23 jewel automatic movement, calibre 11 ALAC, which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and it has the date code for 1967. The watch measures 33.5mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is stainless steel and it is in good condition, just a couple of short scratches to the back. The case back has the image of the Bulova dancing girl, a design based on the original $3000 painting commissioned by J Bulova Co by the artist Coles Phillips. The picture represented an original interpretation of ‘Time’, moving on from the dated image of ‘Old Father Time’. The painting was used in a big national advertising campaign in the early 1920s. The lens is in lovely condition. The signed dial is in its original finish with original hands, centre seconds hand and outer minute markers. There are tiny dots across the dial is you look very closely, or through a jeweller’s loupe. The watch comes on a generic stainless steel bracelet which currently fits a 16.5cm wrist, although there is room on the clasp to make it around 1cm bigger. The watch comes in a new presentation box.
