Charming potrait miniature of a young girl that I believe to be one of the daughters of the 5th Duke of Devonshire and The Dutchess, Georgiana Spencer Cavendish, I direct relative to Lady Diana Spencer, Princess of Wales. Below I've detailed the history and references I've found on the internet. There is a well advertised portrait of this little girl, the details are below and of course the Devonshire and Spencer families as a whole. The miniature is signed Duke of Devonshire to the edge of the picture as I've shown. Can only be seen when it's removed from the frame. Grandmother Margaret Georgiana Spencer, Countess Spencer, was an English philanthropist. She was born at St James's Palace as the daughter of a diplomat and a maid of honour to Caroline of Ansbach. In 1754, she married John Spencer, one of the wealthiest men of the era. A love match, the marriage resulted in the births of three surviving children, who included Georgina Spencer who became Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire. Mother Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire, was an English socialite, political organizer, style icon, author, and activist. Of noble birth from the Spencer family, married into the Cavendish family, she was the first wife of William Cavendish, 5th Duke of Devonshire, and the mother of the 6th Duke of Devonshire. Her two daughters are pictured in a miniature portrait by Moser Haughton Younger C1790 which is available on Pinterest, the girl in this miniature is pictured to the right in that work is the same girl in this portrait. Painted in water colour to the front with the original pencil outline and shading on the back. Framed in brass with a ringed eyelet to the top for wall hanging and an easel back for free standing. The frame is in excellent condition with a velvet back board and stand. Happy to answer questions
