This William & Mary oyster laburnum chest was made in the 17th Century. The chest top and drawers have the multiple oysters of laburnum that give it the striking effect. The oysters with the golden edging, that is carried on the edge moulding to the topsides and base. The 4 graduated drawers are also cross-banded with holly. The ends with the circular feature panel to the centre, quadrant panels of laburnum to each corner. The chest stands on turned walnut bun feet. The brass plate handles (later) with their swing handles.
