As a plentiful and strong timber Oak has long been used for making desks. Its long grain means it tends not to warp leaving the top nice and flat and the drawers opening and closing smoothly. Indeed, even many of the best desks covered in exotic timbers such as Mahogany and Rosewood were still constructed and lined with oak for these very reasons. When choosing an Antique or Vintage oak desk then there is thankfully lots of choice for you.
