I specialise in affordable original artworks - mainly traditional watercolours and oil paintings but I also have a range of contemporary artworks including limited edition lithographic prints. I also stock a limited selection of antiques and collectables, including treen, ceramics and glass. I have now opened a shop at 26 High St Wallingford (OX100BU) between Reading and Oxford, but I also trade online. My website, www.artandstuffgallery.com has a gallery section with several mini-galleries where my items are displayed, including more contemporary items not shown on LoveAntiques.

19th Century Portrait of a Woman in Mob Cap & Lace Collar
This is an interesting portrait of an early 19th century woman in mob cap and lace collar. The woman is unidentified, but given the lace collar is probably the lady of an affluent household. The artist is also unknown but manages to convey a very real face - a woman who has a lot to do and is a bit tired, but who cares for her appearance!

condition
watercolour in excellent condition. Some marks to frame and small chip to gesso on one corner. Presented in a plain gilt frame, dated by the framers verso 1909, so presumably reframed at that date.
