19th Century Treen French Wooden Dairy Bowl

This is a 19th Century antique French dairy bowl measuring 41.5cm in diameter, with good colour and patina. This bowl is the perfect size for a large fruit bowl and has attractive grooved details to the internal rim and around the outside of the bowl. It has splits to the wood at both sides of the bowl, and it appears that there have been patches of some sort applied to the splits to strengthen it, but for some reason these are no longer present - if you look at the photos you will see darker patches, especially on the underside of the bowl, where they were. The splits have weakened the structure slightly, and there is some movement in the bowl if you put pressure on it, but they do not affect its usability as a fruit bowl or decorative item. There is some evidence of historic woodworm in the bowl but this is no longer active.
