A late 19th century watercolour, probably of Newminster Abbey, near Morpeth, Northumberland. The Cistercian abbey was founded in 1137, burned down by Scottish raiders in 1159 and then rebuilt in 1180. Saint Robert of Newminster was its first abbot.
