This is a set of 6 antique Lancashire spindleback dining chairs. An English, beech carver and seat suite with rush cushions, dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1905. Fine example of the distinctive Lancashire style dining suite, displaying a desirable aged patina, in good order throughout. Beech stocks show fine grain interest and warm caramel hues. Superb, traditional rush seat cover presenting a rich biscuit colour. Each of the rush cushions in pleasingly taut, intact condition. Delightful seventeen-spindle backs with appealing woven rush seats. Further accentuated with distinctive ears to the bowed crest rail. Arranged five-seven-five, the spindles deftly turned to pleasing effect. Carvers hosting serpentine arms with broad terminus over baluster turned supports. Slipper chairs bearing the same back rest style, in smaller proportion with 10 spindles. Each piece with turned front legs, set on raised pad feet. Square feet to rear, united to each side by stretchers, with collared detail to front.
