ANTIQUE JEWELLERY, FURNITURE AND OBJECTS CURATED BY CONSERVATION AND GEMMOLOGY SPECIALISTS IN GUERNSEY AND LONDON After years immersed in the dynamic world of London’s antique scene, we felt a call to return to Guernsey, to a quieter, more reflective place where we could cultivate our own vision. Our approach is founded on a deep respect for the history and craftsmanship of each item we encounter, but also an understanding that the antique world must evolve to remain relevant in today’s ever-changing landscape. We are committed to bringing both knowledge and passion to every interaction, ensuring that our clients are as informed as they are inspired by the pieces they acquire. 'Terrou' is the Guernésiais word for 'Always' - a word which resonated strongly with us. We believe antiques should be both appreciated for their heritage and embraced for their ability to contribute to the beauty and functionality of modern life. Our collection represents not only the history of fine jewellery and furniture but also a bridge between past and present. We work with clients to help them see that antiques are not merely relics of the past but treasures that can compliment and enhance the spaces and lives of today. At the heart of our mission is the desire to make the antique world more accessible and approachable, while preserving the standards of knowledge, care, and expertise that have defined it for centuries. We invite you to explore our collection, where tradition meets innovation, and where every piece tells a story.

Description
A handsome William IV rosewood tea caddy of classic rectangular form, dating to the second quarter of the nineteenth century. The elegant sarcophagus-shaped lid is centred by a raised cushion moulding, a distinctive feature of the period that lends the piece both architectural presence and refinement. The hinged lid opens to reveal a divided two-compartment interior, retaining remnants of the original foil lining, once used to help preserve the freshness and aroma of valuable tea leaves. The caddy retains an impressive number of original fittings, including its brass lock, twin brass lock hasps, stop hinges and screws, all of which speak to its authenticity and careful survival over nearly two centuries. Crafted in richly figured rosewood, the caddy displays the warm depth of colour and fine grain so prized in Regency decorative arts. During the nineteenth century, tea caddies such as this occupied an important place within the home, reflecting both the value of tea and the rituals that surrounded its consumption. A charming and increasingly sought-after example of English treen from the period, equally appealing to collectors of antique boxes and those seeking a decorative object with genuine historical character.
