A superb large mid 19th-century cut glass whisky tumbler, dating to circa 1850. It has thick, tapered walls with bold slice cutting down the sides, leading into a solid basal section, which is further finished with a large polished pontil.
A strong and weighty example, combining practical form with confident mid-19th century cutting.

Cut tumblers such as this were used for spirits like Whisky, with the decorative cutting elevating them beyond everyday use. They were more suited to domestic entertaining and higher-status settings, often used alongside cut decanters.
