Description
A stunning antique French, 19th century Ormolu, Palais Royal style cigar box. An impressive piece with impeccable detailing, it is a large table top sized box with a double compartment, cedar lined. The box features a highly detailed front panel scene in the manner of Teniers, a scene of merry making, all in repousse design. It has Grecian revival frieze borders and a cupids bow thumbpiece opening. The box is hinged, the central panel is inset slightly to the rest of the box, the inside of the lid is lined in black velvet. A very grand piece. Any questions or queries please contact us. Overall good used condition, some wear and surface marks, the cedar lining has a few scrapes, the central picture panel has a slight amount of a gap to the lower side (see photos).
