Antique Japanese Gourd Inro, Boxwood, Crickets

A fantastic and very finely carved antique Japanese gourd inro. It is a three sectioned inro modelled as a gourd with each sliding up to reveal the compartments, all hand-carved from boxwood with realistic detailing and magnificent carved crickets with black glass eyes. There is foliage to the top of the gourd. It is strung with a cotton cord but this has been restrung at some point and signed to a disc on the front. A very well made and decorative piece.
