Antique Khamseh Carpet Hand Woven

This is an attractive Khamseh carpet from South West Persia dating from around 1910. The soft woollen carpet is finely handwoven and is quite typical of Khamseh carpets in both design and colour palette. The indigo blue field has three stepped medallions surrounded by chicken motifs and stylised flowerheads. The carpet has neat multiple narrow borders and guard stripes. The design features warm madder red, indigo blue, ivory, gold and a dark indigo too. This carpet is really in excellent ready to use condition with complete ends and selvedges and a nice even pile.
