Description
Antique mahogany dresser base sideboard cupboard unit with two doors beneath two drawers. Plinth at the base; sections in one drawer; two shelves in one side of the interior. Original wooden drawer handles; cupboard handle is an addition; originally would've just been opened with a key. There's no key now: one could probably be made but it's a high quality lock with several levers so my box of many keys came up short. Anyway the doors stay shut. In fact the left door has an interesting device which keeps it shut unless the right door is opened (pictured). it's then pulled open with a recessed hand hold, halfway up the inside. It's a bit stiff currently: I'm thinking it'll improve in a warm house but the catch could just be removed otherwise. A shame though: it's clever and I've not seen one before (in 35 years..). Dimensions: 127cm x 51cm x 97cm high

declaration
Barnaby's of Battle has clarified that the Antique Mahogany Cupboard Base with Drawers above 1900s (LA517757) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being c.1900s
condition
Condition is pretty good structurally: it's a solidly made, heavy piece and everything works well (stiff door notwithstanding). Cosmetically though it bears the marks of a working life; bumps and scrapes etc; some proper dings on the top (see pics) though most of these look like they were fixing points for a old top. A mop line at floor level. I think it's quite a charming thing in this honest state but it's a good candidate for stripping or painting and is priced for the condition.
