Description
On offer is this most attractive cased set of two antique J. Grossmith & Sons perfume bottles in their original box dating circa 1900. The domed casket measures 10 cm in height and is 11.5 cm by 7.5 cm in width. The leather covered box has brass escutheon and locking key and the top has brass lettering spelling out the word Scent. Internally the box has felt lining and fitted base with the two clear cut glass scent bottles. The bottles have square bodies with rounded sloping shoulders and faceted mushroom shaped stoppers. I believe these bottles are by Cristalleries de Baccarat design # 196 which the house of Grossmith used for it's fragrances. Both bottles retain the original paper labels to the front with the Grossmith name and another label with the fragrance name. One bottle was for the fragrance White Rose and the other for the fragrance The Jockey Club (both of these fragrances were first launched in 1890).
