Antique Pitch Pine Glazed Bookcase Cabinet

A beautiful 19th century glazed bookcase or display cabinet made from pitch pine, with a lower double door cupboard, and an upper glazed double door cabinet topped with a moulded cornice. Both sets of doors have working locks and keys that also act as handles. A useful and elegant piece of furniture. This beautifully proportioned cabinet was used as a bookcase in its previous home, where it had been for around fifty years, and I think that is its intended purpose, but it would also make a lovely display cabinet. It has some attractive details such as the shaped detail to the skirt, and the breakfront detail to the cornice. Both lead doors open using the key. The second doors are secured with internal bolts. Please note that in most of the photos the cabinet is shown with the shelves in the upper section positioned to sit behind the glazing bars - there is an additional shelf but this means that the other two shelves have to be moved above and below the height of the glazing bars to make useable shelf spacings. This is shown in the last two photos. The top detaches from the base for transportation - there are screws that fix the top to the base which are accessed on the inside of the top section.
