Antique Scandinavian Painted Pine Box or Small Chest, Dated 1837

Scandinavian heavy pine box with original red paint and iron strap work, dated 1837 to the front. There is a candle box internally and the box has a fully functional spring loaded lock and key. A simple and very attractive pine storage box, which is solid and surprisingly heavy. The box is of medium size and may have been a tabletop box, but it is large enough to be floor standing as well. The box is in good condition throughout with wear and patina you would expect from age. I think the escutcheon is a replacement as there appears to be a mark from a bigger one. The lock is in full working order, though is a little sticky and may benefit from a little oil.
