Rustic Antique Painted Pine Dairy Table

A large 19th century pine dairy table with three large drawers and a new sycamore two plank worktop. The table has an old worn paint finish in pale blue, with an underlayer of pale yellow showing through in places. It would be ideal in a kitchen as an island unit or sideboard, or in a hallway. This lovely big chunk of furniture appears to have spent a while being used as a workbench. When we acquired it there was a crude stainless steel top, which we were hoping was covering a nice original wooden top, but sadly it wasn’t to be. We have therefore made a new worktop for it out of two planks of sycamore, which is what was used most commonly for dairy/preparation tables. I don’t know how old the paint finish is, but it is nicely worn and the pale yellow underneath looks good against the blue. We have given it a light clean but have otherwise left it as it was. The table could of course be re-painted, or stripped back to bare wood if a different look was desired. The drawers have chunky brass cup handles, which are not original but suit it well.
